When it comes to the Startup Alpha Business Model Canvas, key activities are any activities that your business is engaged in for the primary purpose of making a profit. Business activities include operations, marketing, production, problem-solving, and administration.

So why are key activities important?

Your startup business model calls for a number of Key Activities. These are the most important actions your company must perform to operate successfully. Like Key Resources, they are required to create and offer a Value Proposition, reach markets, maintain Customer Relationships, and earn revenues.
